SQA members have included several pioneers in the quantitative investment industry.
The SQA, whose history goes back to 1965, continues to be a pioneer in the use of quantitative investment techniques.
Membership in the SQA includes a number of benefits including:
Access to the members-only section of the SQA website, which provides access to presentation materials from past SQA programs;
Reduced fees for all SQA events;
Reduced fees for other events of interest to quantitative practitioners; and
Continuing education credits from the CFA Institute.
The SQA provides several forums for the presentation of theory and practice by practitioners, academics and regulators with an emphasis on the new and controversial. We feature a variety of events throughout our programming year which begins in September and ends in June. We hold in-person events in New York City, online-only presentations, as well as hybrid events. Our flagship events include our Half-Day conference in the fall and our Full-Day conference in the spring (also known as Fuzzy Day). We also feature monthly one-hour seminars —typically a paper presentation or panel discussion — throughout our programming year. In addition, we host joint events with other organizations, notably our annual Data Science in Finance joint conference with the CFA Society NY in January.
Our mission is to disseminate leading-edge ideas and innovations relevant to the work of the quantitative investment practitioner. The knowledge of such ideas and innovations can assist portfolio, risk, and data managers, strategists, analysts, traders, regulators, asset owners such as pension sponsors and foundations in performing their functions and responding to the ever-quickening pace of change. The Society welcomes the participation of academics and students.
The SQA provides opportunities its members and with members of similar societies to meet and network. All SQA events provide time for members to meet and share ideas, opinions, and experiences.
