About
The Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA) is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on education and communication to support members of the quantitative investment practitioner community.
Our Mission
The Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA) is a not-for-profit organization that fosters a community of diverse and curious thinkers who aspire to realize the full potential of innovative quantitative approaches in all aspects of investing. We share, study and inspire innovation in the union of quantitative sciences and investment management. Our core values are the following:
Multi-disciplinary, cutting-edge research with practical applications
We explore new ideas and innovations that have the potential to impact the work of quantitatively-oriented investment professionals. These ideas may be drawn from financial as well as non-financial disciplines as long as they provide inspiration to and can be applied by practitioners.
Critical and constructive thinking
We ask questions, encourage open debate and challenge established ways of thinking. Discussion and intellectual curiosity go hand-in-hand. We strive to be a respectful, intellectually challenging community, where concepts from all disciplines relating to quantitative investment can be honestly and constructively discussed.
Independence
We are an independent, not-for-profit organization. We value innovation and empirical robustness. Our community is devoid of sales pitches, vendor trade shows, stealth consulting agreements or other conflicts of interest. All SQA Directors volunteer their time to the SQA.
Diversity across multiple dimensions
We stand for diversity of ideas, backgrounds, and approaches. We foster links between different quant communities, and strive to represent quants of all backgrounds amongst our directors, members and speakers. The strength and reach of the SQA network is its biggest asset.
